About the University of Pécs Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship

Each year, hundreds of international students gain admission to the University of Pécs through the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme.

The scholarship was established in 2013 by the Hungarian Government as part of its Eastern and Southern Opening policy and is administered by the Tempus Public Foundation.

The primary objective of the program is to increase the number of international students in Hungary while supporting Hungarian universities in attracting high-performing students from around the world. At present, the program collaborates with 94 sending partner countries globally.

Eligibility Requirements (2026 Intake)

To be considered for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship at the University of Pécs, applicants must:

• Be an international student

• Apply for an eligible undergraduate, master’s, or PhD program at the University of Pécs

Tuition-Free Education

• Full exemption from tuition fees for the entire duration of the study program

Monthly Living Stipend

• Non-degree, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and One-Tier Master’s students:

  • HUF 43,700 per month for 12 months each year until completion of studies

• Doctoral students:

  • HUF 140,000 per month for 12 months each year until completion of studies

Accommodation Support

• Free dormitory placement or

• A monthly accommodation allowance of HUF 40,000 for the full scholarship period

Medical Insurance

• Access to healthcare services under Hungarian law
